Roger, Rogers, Brandon's Going Home

A half hour Idol results show? Who could believe it?!? Seacrest and Co. really cut to the chase tonight, and it was much appreciated. Of course we get the opening sing-along. Was it me, or did Gina look pretty butchy tonight? Also, it looked like Diana Ross caught some of the guys' mediocrity bug that has permeated since Idol season 6 began. Her performance was less than stellar. Overall, it was of little surprise that Brandon was sent home. Another plus was that Phil got his first taste of semi-rejection, appearing in the bottom 3. And could Sanjaya's time be running out? I'm curious to see what next week's theme is.

More scoring opportunities delivers a new leader! Allison holds his 1 point lead over the trio of Brett, Ken and MJ. Could the married couple be working together? Conspiracy? Nah, and even if they were, there are no rules preventing it.

Results Show #4

Tonight brought us the final 12, but who was "in it to win it"? Has there ever been an Idol final 12 or beyond where three contestants forgot words to songs they were performing? Haley Scarnato! We were privy to a few solid performances ("the usual suspects" plus Jordin). For the most part, quite frankly, it was a clustermuck of mediocrity to downright badness. Say what you will about Malakar, but at least he didn't forget the words (although maybe he should have). At least Diana Ross was cordial to the contestants.

In other news, I had Niagara in the play-in game. And Bryan must be happy that his Michigan squad beat Utah State...in the NIT.
