I Am... No Longer on Idol

Much anticipation in the K household for the Bedingfield appearance tonight. But first... we get a butchered group performance of songs from an artist whose jock they couldn't hold last night.

Dodson's boy, Maroulis, is lucky he's on a FOX show upcoming. That's the only way he gets his sneering nobody mug on Idol. Along with ol'... yesterday's news. After quickly sweeping Paula's Oceanic 6 behavior under the rug, Seacrest pulls Castro's strings before informing him he's safe. Archuleta is also safe. So do White, Mercado and Cookie comprise the bottom 3? Not likely.

Cookie is safe, so there is only the bottom 2 again this week. Brooke is happy to be here, evidenced by her beaming, over-the-top, permanent smile. But enough of Brooke and Syesha - Seacrest tells them to marinate on the sofa for 25 minutes while Idol kills some time.

Yay, Bedingfield! Although hugging on Baby Elmo? C'mon, Natasha, you're better than that. We get a phone segment followed by Neil Diamond playing what is most likely a (dreaded) "song off the new album."

Forever in blue jeans! It's the Rhinestone Cowboy's night on Idol. Dr. Turk approves,. Neil looks to have lost a little off his fastball, though. The Idolettes are performing two songs tonight, and things are a little rushed. Paula must have spent some time on the island on Lost. What the... ??? Castro singing twice? Oh well... Paula being Paula. Simon summed up the first round nicely by basically giving the performers a big stinky sound.

Looks like Cookie and Project Runway winner Christian Soriano share the same hairdresser. With a mentor like Neil Diamond and his catalog, here's wishing the milktoast Idolettes would take some chances and make things fun. These last few weeks have the makings of a very dry experience, save the judges.
