Archie's Idol Run Cook-Blocked

It's nice to see the final twelve again to kick off things, but why A Clockwork Orange wardrobe, Idol?

Cookie could have used "Hero" last night... if he wasn't purposely trying to take a dive to try and succeed the Daughtry way. Nice segment ad for The Love Guru. Movie buffs might know that a movie came out in 2002 that followed a similar premise titled... The Guru. Downgrade to both.

Cloverfield Monster is back and mumblier than ever. But did she procure some new shoes? I'm sorry - Seal and Donna Summer? Not for a finale.

Bryan Adams? Not for a finale. Bob Ice approves, though. ZZ Top, Graham Nash, man, these guest performers are uninspiring. Finally... someone relevant... The Jonas Bros. But no Jonas bonus.

Business is starting to pick up with brothers-till-the-end-of-time guy and the USC Song Girls (and band). Sparks. The Gladys Knight bit with Stiller, Black and Downey, Jr. might have been the best segment of the night. Underwood blasts "Before He Cheats" v. 2.0. It's definitely catchy.

Oh snap! Hellboy II promo. Don't know how I'm going to trick the wife into seeing that.

Memo to George Michael: No one is going to come to your summer tour if you sing buzzkill songs like you did on Idol.

Cookie should tell Simon his apology is too little, too late. Or not.

Wow. David Cook is your American Idol. Shocker! Somebody watch out for Archuleta tonight - his dad is going to be on a rampage.

Results Show: Let's Get Ready to Rumble

The two-part Idol finale is here. Finally. And Idol doesn't disappoint, opening with perhaps the cheesiest gimmick evah - boxing. Really? I realize they need to kill some time, but the robes and gloves were really unnecessary.

Key the build-up montage with Jim Lampley. Did you notice in Seacrest's voice over when he mentions Idol winners going on to super stardom, the montage flashes shots of Clarkson, Daughtry and Underwood. Wha-wha-what?!? Daughtry never won Idol, Idol. Tsk, tsk.

Round 1: Cook's "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" v. Archuleta's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" - Simon says advantage Adam.

Round 2: Cook sings some Journey-esque, positive song v. Archuleta's "In This Moment" - I think Idol is slanting this "competition" a bit.

Round 3: Cook's "The World I Know" v. Archuleta's "Imagine" - I now think that Cookie is purposely trying to lose.
