Sparks Fly As Jordin, Dodson Win Respective American Idol Contests

Now, the Super Pool 2 heard rumblings that one Britney Spears may appear/perform during AI's final show. If true, that would definitely add an exclamation point to what has been a rather milktoast season. But first, we get past Idol mentor, Gwen Stefani, performing "4 in the Morning" - a current fave of yers truly. Akon is not needed for this one. Wow, the O.I. (original Idol) graces us with her presence. Maybe the second album sales need a little boost? A slight boo for not performing "Since U Been Gone". Yay, Sanjaya's back! The Super Pool 2 missed him. I like how the top 6 guys, singing "Ooh Baby, Baby" are trying to act all sultry and Thicke-ish. As if, nerdlingers! Blake, just zip it and let Doug E. Fresh do his thing. Please! That song brings back some good memories. Speaking of good memories, Haley Scarnato!, the top 6 girls are performing. I believe that was an audience pan of Guarini followed by The Hoff.

Green Day? Really? Look, it's a silver fox sighting! Sadly, it seems like Taylor has lost almost all of the buzz he generated last season on Idol. Next! The Velvet Teddy Bear coordinating nicely with Jordin. Doing this bizarre Sgt. Peppers tribute signifies that Idol will be running over tonight. No Britney Spears. Overall, this final show had no big bang like the Prince performance of last year. Sort of signifies season 6, in general.

...Sorry, I was watching the Lost season finale. It was a juggling act.

Congrats to MJ and Todd K for correctly identifying the perky 17-year old, Jordin Sparks, as the American Idol winner back in week 5 (when there were still 10 Idolettes remaining).

Results Show #14 - the Final 2

Does Seacrest really need to work blue (resetting the lame b-word joke with Paula) on the night of the final performances?? Blake - with obviously no knowledge of competitive sports - wins the coin toss and elects to go first, negating any home field advantage/last outs. He should have consulted Phillippe. This alone could cost him the contest! Although, very questionable decision by Jordin to whip out a shakey rendition of Aguilera's "Fighter". Are we in the Kodak Theater tonight? I don't believe it's been mentioned. Nice to see Federline's Nationwide spot being utilized during the AI finals. K-Fed can rap (and sing) better than Blake. Oh snap! The songs writtin specifically for each individual Idolette to perform during the Final are always the best songs. I think. Jordin is 17-years old? Why did they not mention this startling fact before? I bet Blake wishes he would have picked to go second now!
